Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic who is also a public speaker. She founded Feminist Frequency the website which includes videos and comments on portrayals of women in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that examines female representations in narratives from popular culture. She's committed to removing stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop media. Additionally she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her site Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was still a student at the university. A woman with ambitions to start a web-series examining the gender representation of video games was targeted in the internet campaign. But the assault did be a deterrent, but it made her more determined as a feminist media critic. Numerous awards have been given to her for all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and was the creator of Feminist Frequency. This educational non-profit explores the role of women in pop culture narratives.
