She took ballet, tap, and jazz classes in her early years. After participating in several dance contests, she started acting when she turned seventeen. Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze was the catalyst for Cook to be an actor. Then, in August 2001 Cook was married to her long-time lover Nathan Andersen, whom she attended a film workshop at Utah Valley University.
